Ironhide

Improvements in the Custom Masters process mean that Ironhide is now readily available for purchase. Feel free to email me for more details! Keen observers will notice a pretty straightforward job here on every part of Ironhide except for his chest and his head. Well, as Ironhide himself might say, "Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed..." The head is a kitbash of Energon Rodimus. I shaved down the “horns” from the sides and smoothed out the rest to get what I think is a pretty good likeness of Ironhide I got pretty intricate with the body. I started with Mainframe's chest, which is pretty plain, and shaved down the front completely so there was, basically, nothing left but the shoulders, the side, and the crotch. I then took a little Micro Machines van and cut off the front of it. From there, I grafted the van front onto what was left of Mainframe, filled in the gaps, and presto! You've got Ironhide's chest! At first I was a little disappointed that the top of the van was higher up than the shoulders; as you can see, it obscures his face slightly. But I didn't want to shave down the top either, because I'd lose the whole windshield flavor. So I rationalized it by thinking this custom was half cartoon-based, half toy-based. Isn't it great how the human mind can explain away mistakes as "happy accidents?"
