CHARACTER ART -

Line Art

Color Art

The Gentlemen at Botcon Productions were very specific about this aspect of the project. They wanted to steer clear of the more "exaggerated" Dreamwave style art in favor of the subtle look of the classic box art.

Chip set to work to pencil the character art, keeping in mind that for this particular project, draftmanship would take priority over figure dynamics. After a little sketching around the rough pencil art was finished, the result was a bit of a demure pose
.

The Art was then inked, scanned into the computer and prepped for color. The black and white line art was then sent off to Tom Chu, a professional colorist that Chip had worked with in the past. Tom is also a huge Transformers fan, which made him the perfect man for the job.

After Tom layed down his digital colors
, some tweaks were made here, specifically the graphics for the chest and arm stickers were composited into the colored art. With the color art now completely finished, it could be incorporated into the box design.
